MONTGOMERY – With the support of a $50,000 grant from the Alabama Power Foundation, MGMWERX will continue to lead in the areas of collaboration, innovation, and creating improvement through education, technology, and programming. As the collaboration and innovation hub for Air University (AU) at Maxwell Air Force Base, partnerships with organizations like Alabama Power also work to strengthen the connection between AU and the local community.
“MGMWERX is in an important position to do great things in our community” said Eric Gerritson, MGMWERX Innovation and Collaboration Principal, “It is exciting to have Alabama Power Foundation’s investment in our Innovation Hub. And now as a partner in Education and Social Innovation, this grant will help springboard MGMWERX efforts to offer more coaching events and projects that support our community in areas that matter to Alabama Power like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”
Alabama Power Foundation awards grants once per quarter to organizations whose projects meet community improvement, diverse connections, supportive collaboration, and social innovation criteria. Programs or ideas must address a need in at least one of the five initiatives. Alabama Power Foundation grants are designed to meet several different initiative objectives – Educational Advancement, Civic and Community Development, Arts and Cultural Enrichment, Health and Human Services and Environmental Stewardship – all of which align with MGMWERX’s four verticals of Innovation.
“Alabama Power has a long history of supporting the River Region community. We are honored the Alabama Power Foundation selected MGMWERX as a grant recipient to further advance STEM-related education, workforce development and innovation across our community,” commented Trent Edwards, Director of MGMWERX.
