(Montgomery, AL) MGMWERX, in partnership with Air University, will host the second Top Flight Pitch Night on May 18th . This pitch night will take place virtually with Air University students participating from around the world and the ability for an audience to tune in live online.
Four airmen will pitch to a panel of distinguished judges. The student that receives top-honors will have that distinction marked on their transcript and will also have the opportunity to secure funding or support for the further advancement for their idea.
“Top Flight Pitch night is a flagship event for MGMWERX and Air University. The best Air University student research for this academic year is submitted for consideration. Only four were selected to compete in the 2020 pitch event,” says Anna Ganey, MGMWERX Business Manager. “Participants have the benefit of their research papers gaining visibility to the community and to Air Force leadership. From this pitch night, their research could potentially gain traction and be brought to operational life!”
A change precipitated by COVID-19, this pitch night will be hosted online. The community is encouraged to participate by voting for their favorite research idea before the live event. Starting May 11, MGMWERX will have voting available at https://mgmwerx.org/pitchnight. The community can view a short video of the research to be presented at pitch night and cast a vote for their favorite. The public vote will carry value in the final tabulation for a winner.
“This is a change for us, but we are excited about the opportunity that a virtual event provides. Geographic location has been less of an issue for judges, contestants, and subject matter experts,” shares Joyce Vaughn, MGMWERX Marketing and Events Manage. “The pitch participants will receive the same top-notch training and feedback that contestants received last year. Also, we hope to have a larger audience for the live pitch event. Folks from all over can tune in and watch the pitches live on May 18.”
